Mix up a glass of fresh Strawberry Milk made from fresh strawberry syrup instead of using that powdered stuff from the grocery shelf. It’s simply delicious!

A few days ago I ran across this super easy recipe from Bon Appetit for Strawberry Milk.  I instantly thought about my grandkids and how they would like fresh Strawberry Milk.  Also, the thought of using fresh strawberries versus some off the shelf powdered stuff to make Strawberry Milk sounded appealing to me, so I picked up some fresh strawberries and went to work…some work I might add…easy peasy!  Oh yes…if you don’t want to use the strawberry syrup for milk, you can pour it over pancakes, french toast, biscuits, or even mix it with butter for strawberry butter.  Yum!

Here’s how I whipped up this quick & easy syrup…

I started by rinsing, hulling and quartering a pound of fresh strawberries and adding them to a medium size saucepan…

Next I covered them with some sugar and a sprinkling of pure vanilla…

I added a little bit of water and mixed them until the sugar was dissolved…

Then I brought the mixture to a boil over medium heat and reduced the heat to a simmer…

I simmered the strawberries for about ten minutes until the strawberries were soft…

Next I poured the strawberries and juice into a fine mesh strainer over a bowl…

And used a potato masher to mash the strawberries…

I left the strainer over the bowl until all of the juice had time to drain into the bowl…

Then I chilled the syrup for several hours until it was well chilled before using…

I added 1/4 cup of fresh syrup to one cup of milk to serve.  Easy Peasy!!!

Whip this up for the little ones in your life and watch them smile…
