Hello everyone! I’m Cindy Gibbs at My Country Table, I would love to take this opportunity to invite you to come have a seat at my country kitchen table, where we can chat, share recipes and get to know one another.
I’ll tell you a little bit about me, and I hope to learn more about you. I am a very simple, down to earth country gal, born and bred in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky. I was raised on a large farm in the country, where I learned to make biscuits and pie crusts with my mother at a very early age. I’m not even going to mention my age, but I will say that when I was a small child, my mother milked our family milk cow, Bosse and churned her own butter.
My mother’s original butter churn…
My twin sister and I use to love to watch our mother run her Sunbeam stand mixer. It really was the mixer to have, back in the day.
We grew up with a wonderful mother, who made all of our clothes and never forgot our birthdays! That’s me on the right…
Now here I am today, many years later, and I’m still in the kitchen making biscuits and pie crusts. I am a mother, wife, sister and grandma. These days I still live in the country in a log home with my husband Don.
I spend all of my free time in my large country kitchen, thanks to Don, where I love to bake, cook and create recipes. I not only love to create and test new recipes, but I love to make the forgotten recipes from years past, that seem to have been forgotten throughout the generations.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that a lot of my friends don’t know how to make recipes from scratch, such as homemade biscuits, gravy, pie crust, dumplings, etc… I also can’t tell you how many zillion recipes I’ve copied for my friends over the years, just to have them later tell me, that they were afraid to attempt making them. After giving this much thought, I decided to create a food website where my friends could visit and not only see the recipes they liked but see illustrated step by step instructions for the harder recipes.
I love to make recipes from scratch, using only the purest of ingredients. My mother was right….If you’re going to take the time to make something from scratch, then by golly make it taste like it’s from scratch, by using pure ingredients such as real butter and pure vanilla. Don’t get me wrong here… you will see me use a cake mix here and there. A cake mix can be turned into a very delectable dessert when the right ingredients are added.
I knew absolutely nothing, I mean NOTHING, about creating a website, not to mention that I was a very amateur photographer. Well lucky for me, I know this great guy by the name of Brad, who is a website design genius, and well he might also be my son-n-law. Isn’t he the lucky one….lol. He hasn’t had a moment of peace since my little pea brain went to work on this crazy food blog idea.
So anyhow my friends, I’d like to take this time to say Welcome to my little food blog, My Country Table. I sincerely hope you enjoy visiting it.
Your foodie friend,
